Easter Weekend 2011

So after the mishap with the truck we decided to stay home and work on the yard that proved to be a great blessing in disquise. Calissa got up in the night Thursday with a high fever and was just miserable. Friday she played outside with the kids but never got rid of the fever and was not 100%. Jeff got about 30 feet of the block wall done on Friday and then we went trailer shopping (he was looking for a trailer to haul rock and block in). We had used most of the block that we had and he didn't want another mishap with the truck. So Saturday Jeff got up and went and got his trailer and a load of block. The kids and I cleaned house and colored Easter eggs. Calissa had started feeling worse and when Jeff got home we started wondering if we should take her to the ER finally about 5:00 p.m. we decided to go. Luckily the ER was not busy and things moved along quite quickly and we were out of there by 8:00 (3 hours was short for an ER visit, at least I thought so). They said she had a Upper Respiratory Infection caused by a virus but there was really nothing to do for her. Sunday we had an uneventful Easter, Calissa was still running a fever but the Advil perked her up enough to enjoy the Easter egg hunt, it was fun to watch them gather away. I only wish the wind would have been a bit calmer because it was no fun to be out there.

These two were so cute when they found an egg it was almost like they weren't sure what to do.

I think Caelin and Jace would have enjoyed it more if they would have had more competition, but they said they still said it was fun.

Behind Caelin you can see the change in color on the wall that was the progress over the weekend and then Jeff's new trailer with another load of block.

Definitely a different Easter weekend for us I can't remember the last time we were actually at home, but for once I was glad we were. Now if I can get Calissa well and get caught up on sleep, then get the truck fixed things should be somewhat back to normal.

I'm glad that you ended up having a nice quiet Easter. I can't believe that your little one was that sick again! No fun!

Andy is SO excited that Jeff invited him over to learn to lay block. I'm sure he'll be over soon. :)

We should get together this week!

I think the home Easter Hunts are just as fun. Next year you need to plant a "golden egg" with money or a special prize. It gives the big kids something to really search for! My mom started it years ago and now no one will miss the family hunt because the Golden Egg could have a 20 dollar bill. One year she put a $100 in an egg and my brother-in-law found it. The girls were all so jealous! It has been a fun tradition. Better than the crazy community ones as we have gotten older, its the hunt we remember and cherish the most.
